How things change

13 03 2010

Have you ever said that you hated something and then a few years you try it again and you love it?

Well, this usually only applies to food with me. I have found increasingly this year that something I used to hate I really enjoy now. Which, I might add, is really doing my no favours in keeping shape.

That aside, heres a few things I never thought I would like:

Crisp Sandwiches: The texture always freaked me out, and my family loves them. Me not so much, the idea freaked me out. I mean bread and crisps at once? Dark magic me thinks. Then I was at my gfs over the summer and I had one and I actually really enjoyed it. It was amazing.

Nutella: I hated this stuff for years. While I was in Italy a few years ago I tried it and fell in love. Now I wonder what I was missing out on all these years.

Green Tea: rules my life. That is all.

Nutrigrain bars: Mainly Blueberry. They are so good. The idea of fruit filling in something always grossed me out. But these are incredible. Wow.

Well thats all I can really think of right now.

If you have any feel free to comment them :)

Later Days.

Super Busy.

13 03 2010

My sincerest of apologies. I forgot my password and have now finally gotten around to changing it. So quick update first.

I have been pretty accident prone and sick lately. My immune system is not as great as it should be. What with nosebleeds and migraines, and ear infections etc I have been pretty tied up with trying to get over them.

That and work has been mental. Not as in busy as in I have been working all the time. I do however update my twitter nearly daily so feel free to check it with my goings on.

I really want to update this more, hopefully now that I’m not really working saturdays I can. So I might post a few updates today.

Heres a kitty as a sorry gift:

Its been a long time coming

22 01 2010

My appologies, It has been entirely too long since I have posted a blog, so I may do a couple now in a row.

My reasons for not posting are because I have been swamped with work. I work 2 straight weeks up to Christmas and was away for New years and just haven’t had the time lately.

Anyways, alot has been happening lately. I got a new tattoo on the back of my neck so that brings me up to a total of 2. woop.

This is going to be a hybrid post of games/book/music/graphic novels/film. I will do one of each of what I have played, which I will give a recommendation rating out of 5. (Spock 5 icons)

Game:

Left 4 Dead 2

Console: Xbox360

About: Set in the Southern states of America around the same time as the first game. 4 all new, all playable characters. Its a co-op First person shooter for those that have not played the first. Again like the original, its based in an apocalyptic pandemic world where you, and 3 other characters fight your way through the infected zombies. Its levels are broken up with save points known as “Safe Houses”. With several  different modes (all with online gameplay enabled. Left 4 Dead2  retains the three game modes of the original game — Campaign, Versus, and Survival—and adds a new game mode called Scavenge.

Comments: I really enjoyed Left 4 Dead, and I have been long awaiting this game. With all new infected, better weapons, the ability to bring dead characters back to life with the Defibrillator, and longer levels it is essentially great. However, it is ALOT harder than the first and unless playing with a full team of people online it is pretty hard to survive. That being said it is really enjoyable. I like that it has more of a storyline, and the characters interact more which is interesting. I do however prefer the other characters (Mainly Zoey).

Book:

The Zombie Survival Guide

Author: Max Brooks

About: I put a link to the wiki page on the picture.

Comments: Essentially its like a text book on basic survival should the Zombie uprising ever happen. I really love this book. Its funny, and I am pretty well prepared now on how to survive.

Music:

Now, Now Every Children

Members: Cacie (Vocals, Guitar, Keyboard) , Brad (drums, vocals, various other things). Live Members include: Britty (Keyboard), Jess(Guitar), Christine (Bass, Keyboard)

About: Indie band from Minneapolis Minnesota, they combine the awesome power of Cacies voice and an incredible fusion of keyboard and guitar to create this unique sound that I could listen to over and over and over for hours.

Comments: I saw them play in Dublin in early December and I have to say they were so incredible. It blew my mind. I would give anything to see them play again. They unfortunately only got a half hour set. I would LOVE to see them play a longer set. Cacie really interacted and it was so incredible. I really could not fault one thing about their set. They are very committed to their fans aswell and are always interacting through Myspace/Twitter/Facebook/Stickam/nnec.com. They are, by far one of my favourite bands. Go on over to their site and spread them some love, theres a link to their myspace in the picture. I bought their Vinyl at the concert and protected it with my life through the whole thing as i was in the pitt – scary stuff.

Favourite Song: I have been listening to Friends With My Sister and We Know Martha Webber alot.

Rating:

Graphic Novel:

Fables Series

Author: Bill Willingham

About: PLEASE DO NOT WIKI! It will give away spoilers and trust me, this is a series to read. Basically, the Fables characters, which are all characters from fairy tales (Snow White, Big Bad Wolf, Cinderella etc etc) are all living in the Mundy world, and have been living in New York City as they have been driven from their “Homelands” by an evil adversary. They have all banded together in the hopes of one day reclaiming said homelands. King Cole is the Mayor, and Snow White is his right hand man, or woman rather. The Big Bad Wolf has reformed and is now in human form and is the sheriff of Fabletown.

Comments: Thats the basic jist, the storylines change and develop and my god is it amazing! I can’t say I have ever enjoyed a Graphic Novel as much as I enjoy Fables. I mean I am positively in LOVE with this series. It is incredible, and in my opinion has everything. If you haven’t read this series, you must start.

Film:

Sunshine Cleaning

Cast: Directed by – Christine Jeffs

Rose – Amy Adams

Norah – Emily Blunt

Joe – Alan Arkin

Oscar – Jason Spevack

Mac – Steve Zahn

About: (From IMDB) In order to raise the tuition to send her young son to private school, a mom starts an unusual business — a biohazard removal/crime scene clean-up service  with her unreliable sister.

Comments: I really loved this film. It was so sweet, yet overly, funny yet had its serious moments. The Chemistry between all the actors was so amazing and believable. I love Emily Blunt, she is amazing. Amy Adams I have always had a soft spot for and Alan Arkin always cracks me up. It was such a great mixture and I really enjoyed this film. However, I am pissed that they cut the Lesbian romance with Emily Blunt out of the film. (Side note, how incredibly stunning is Emily Blunt in every role she plays?) However at least they left in the overtones.

Anyhow, thats all I have for now. Sorry that this has been a long time coming. I have had alot going on recently And right now, I’m physically and emotionally drained. However It looks to be another sleepless night unfortunately.

3am cupcakes are clearly amazing

17 01 2010

This is just a quick post. I have 2 long ones to come, I started them both then the internet died all over Monaghan the other day so I haven’t finished them yet – bare with me :)

I just wanted to update real quick.

So the other night I couldn’t sleep as my mind was really wired and I really wanted to make cakes but we ended up not having the ingredients. (When I’m bored/can’t sleep I make food, even though half the time I don’t eat it and just make it for everyone else) This has given me the nickname Elf, or as my lady said:

“You’re so weird, like a little elf making cakes long in to the night “

Anyways, the next day (Yesterday) I went out and bought ingredients and spent AGES looking for food dye, I wanted blue, but no where sells it in town so I gots green as its my favorite color :)

At like 2:30am this morning I maded cakes. And this is the beautiful result (haha) They are amazing though. mmmmmmm

When is it REALLY Christmas?

17 12 2009

Personally I don’t really accept that its Christmas until a certain few things happen.

  • Christmas lights appear on peoples houses.

This one is a given, that and Christmas things in stores, but that goes without saying.

  • 2 Particular adverts have to play on the tv.

They are my most favourite ones of all time.

The Kellogs Corn Flake one, mainly as the blonde girl looks like me when I was younger.

And this one:

This is the most imporant thing that needs to happen, as they’re memories from my childhood. My family seems to have a huge thing for those two Ads, whenever either of them comes onto the tv someone is yelling down the hall to turn on said channel or even running down to the room that another person is in and changing the channel. They never get old.

  • Putting the christmas tree up in my room.
  • Mom getting the Christmas mugs and plates out.
  • Listening to Chrismtas music
  • Mom making home made mince pies, mulled wine and other such things.
  • SNOW!

Snow is by far the most important, even if it’s just once.  I don’t think I’ve ever seen a white Christmas :( Unfortunately.

So tell me, whats your favourite things about Christmas? And when do you consider Christmas to be really here?

Later Days….and Merry Christmas

5 Albums Jadey thinks you should listen to……..

29 11 2009

I have been thinking about writing this post for a while. Basically how I’m going to work this is recent albums that are out. Overall would be too difficult so I will sit on that idea for another little while yet.

This is essentially my own personal taste, I don’t mind if you hate/love any of these or what not. Its just what I have been listening to lately. So enjoy and let me know your thoughts and opinions on these.

Juliette Lewis – Terra Incognita

I recently went to see Juliette and I have to say, this woman puts on one hell of a show, if she comes near you. Trust me you have to see her. Shes fucking amazing. Wow. This album is her solo album after splitting with The Licks. And I have to say, it really doesn’t disappoint, its brilliant. And amazing mixture of blues, jazz, pop, rock everything. Its an incredible album. I suggest the songs:

  • Uh Huh
  • Fantasy Bar
  • Terra Incognita

Weezer – Raditude

I love Weezer. Weezer were my first ever concert, and wow. Blew my mind. This album I really like. I could listen to it the whole way through. Very Typical Weezer, and its amazing. However they have tried something different with Love is the Answer and it sounds so good, amazing fusion of music right there.   I suggest:

  • Love is the Answer
  • Trippin Down the Freeway
  • The Girl Got Hot

Flyleaf – Memento Mori

I know what you’re thinking “Christian Rock Blah!” But honestly this band is amazing and this album is incredible. Lacey has such a cool voice and this music is so easy to listen to. It somehow makes me feel at ease. This new album is possibly way better than the first and this is definitely an up and coming band, they’re getting a fairly huge fanbase and I can definitely understand why. I suggest:

  • Set Apart This Dream
  • Missing
  • Beautiful Bride

Tegan & Sara – Sainthood

I have been eagerly awaiting this album. After listening to The Con over and over and over I couldn’t wait for a new album. These girls always surprise me. With all new songs they always seem to make music more interesting and mindblowing for me. Usually with bands after they have released a few albums they start to sound the same and songs seem to blur. But With Tegan and Sara its always fresh and new and exciting. Its like re-discovering them everytime with every album. And that is such a refreshing experience. I suggest:

  • Northshore
  • Hell
  • The Ocean
  • Alligator

Spinnerette – Spinnerette

I love Brody Dalle. Thats all there is to it. The woman is freakin’ amazing. I mean really. The Distillers were and still are one of my all time favourite bands EVER. And thats pretty impressive as I am very eclectic with music, but her voice, the music and the feelings you get just listening to her music makes me tingle. I am in love with her voice, I mean to go from the rough punk voice to the pure sound of Spinnerette is pretty bloody impressive. And whats best is I love both. She is so diverse, It makes me love her more. I’ve been waiting for Brody to come back for years and I was about to give up hope and here she is, I love you Brody and I hope you are still singing for years and years and years.I suggest:

  • Sex Bomb
  • Ghetto Love
  • Driving Song
  • Baptized by Fire

You know what I love most about all these albums and what they all have in common? I could listen to all of them the whole way through.

anyways enjoy :)

Love is….

26 11 2009

Love.

Is rather like a Rubber Band. It goes on for infinity, a constant circle.

It can be made in to many different shapes, and comes in all different sizes and colors, but is ultimately the same thing the whole time.

It works perfectly and fits snuggly around an object when it has just the right amount of tension.

But put too much tension and pressure on it, it snaps and breaks. And no matter how many times you try to repair it it won’t be the same as it once was, the more knots you put in it, the more harder it becomes to carry out its task.

And even if you try to melt it together again, it is ultimately weaker.

Its delicate.

Please don’t take it for granted.

I am feeling quite philosophical today.
